The Beginning

And so it begins...
I've been talking about starting a blog for a while now, and it's time to put that into action. I don't know if anyone will read this, but I figure it will be a good way to keep my friends and family updated on my life and my crafting. Since I like to spend a good chunk of my free time knitting I'm hoping to keep this interesting with lots of pictures and updates.

I suppose the place to start is with this week. Sunday morning I decided to get some crew hours in for Theatre Workshop by going to the light hang. Since I figured that people working hard get hungry I made a double batch of rolls to bring along. Luckily for me this was batch number 4 so they came out great!
Half whole wheat-half white rolls
I made them using half white flour and half whole wheat flour. They were delicious when they were warm and even when they cooled off. I was pleased with the results. And I think the whole wheat flour even made them a little healthy. I'm hoping to try making other types of artisan bread once I can get my hands on a recipe book.

Of course as is the usual for me I got right to knitting to start this week off right. Yesterday I finished of an entrelac beret using a great variegated yarn I picked up at A.C Moore.

Progress

While the colors are great and I loved the yarn and the hat is beautiful....as I wore the hat it stretched out to three times as wide as it was when I put it on. I think I can still work out wearing it so long as I use barrettes or bobby pins to keep it from falling off.
Completed Beret

Once I finished the beret I was in a mood to dive right into my next project. I decided to finally pick a project to use my Christmas sock yarn stash up. There is a pattern I've been eying in my one skein wonder book that I finally decided I'm brave enough to attempt. And so I've begun working on a pair of "Lacey Summer Footlets" Basically they are lacy ankle socks.

This will be my first project using itty bitty needles to make "real" (aka non-slipper) socks. This is also the first time I'm really putting effort into a lace project since I think lace can be a little intimidating. So far so good and hopefully I'll be able to comment on the results soon.
Along with all of this I'm still managing to keep up with my homework for Theatre and Personal Finance along with writing for my MQP. Hopefully things won't get so busy that I'll have to cut back on my crafting time!
